Little Known Ways of Using Evernote to Help You Stay Organized
Have you ever wished you had some kind of tool for your small business that allows you to easily store and keep track of your notes? Well, Evernote has some of the handiest features that easily incorporate into your workflow, helping you keep things organized, have the information you need whenever you want, save time and be productive wherever you are.
Evernote is a cloud application service that you can use to store, organize, retrieve, and share documents, notes, tweets, photos from any computer with Internet access.
Note taking
With Evernote, creating as well as organizing your notes is a breeze. You can send e-mails to Evernote, tag your notes, and indicate which notebook they’d be sent to.
Designating the notebook is a simple matter of typing the character “@” in the e-mail subject line followed by the name of the notebook you want to send your notes in.
To know your Evernote e-mail address, all you have to do is click on "Settings," then go to "Tools," and then "Account Info," that is, if you’re using the desktop version. For the web version, you need to go to "Settings," and then, "Account Summary."
To create a tag, simply add a “#” symbol in front of your tag’s name.
Share it on Facebook
Want to share a notebook with your friends or clients? No problem. All you need to do, if you’re using the desktop version, is to right click on the notebook you want to share, and then, go to "Properties," then "Sharing and collaboration options." In the web version, choose "Share," and then, click on "Share Notebooks."
Scan your notes
If your desk is cluttered with seminar notes and reminder, one of the best ways to clean up the mess is to scan your notes and send them to Evernote. Alternatively, you can take pictures of your notes and send them to Evernote.
Take pictures
Take photos of any event and send them instantly to Evernote. Now you can take snapshots of that great bottle of wine you want to buy or the cover of the book you’re dying to read. With Evernote’s iPhone app, you can instantly upload these photos directly to your account.
Safeguard important documents
Forwarding important Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF documents to your Evernote allows you to store them for safekeeping. This is particularly useful when you use multiple computers since it eliminates the need of having to remember where you last saved your document in order to retrieve it.
Take pictures of business cards
If you have a stack of business cards that you’ll never go through, take pictures of them using your iPhone and send the photos to Evernote. One thing that is so great about Evernote is that it is able to recognize text on images, so you can search them for names like “Williams” or “Graham,” and it will fetch for you cards with names that match your search. If you need to remember where you met a certain person, you can use Evernote’s "geo-tag" feature to remind you that you met this person in Rio de Janeiro.
A great way to keep track of your expenses
Stick your receipts in Evernote and grab it later for tracking and expense reports. There’s nothing to it really. Just scan or photograph those receipts and email them to your Evernote account. And yes, you can configure your scanner to automatically send your scans to Evernote.
Dictate your ideas or thoughts
With the Evernote's iPhone app, you can now dictations to your account. This is perfect for when you wake up in the middle of the night with a brilliant idea. Just grab your iPhone, dictate your thoughts, and send it to Evernote.
